Apparently that's what I'm worth, according to a Deseret News article that says if stay-at-home moms were actually paid that's what they'd get. The article acknowledged overtime hours, but I think the list of stuff we actually do was grossly underrepresented.

While we're on the topic of women doing housework the latest Reader's Digest points out that "Having a husband creates an extra seven hours a week of housework for women... A wife saves men from about an hour of housework a week" Clearly you are doing tasks that were not performed before, or were performed much quicker. I know in my job, I can't claim overtime if I work it without being directly ordered. Well, I can sort of but it's at a reduced rate because technically I'm salaried.
The point is, if I was hiring a stay at home mom, I would put her on salary. I think I could hire someone pretty decent for around $35-45K starting. Experience of course adds a lot of value as does creativity and charm, so I could easily see some moms demanding well over $100K if there was a free market for stay at home moms.
