birthdays in review

We've had fun celebrating Matthew and Jared's birthdays lately. Matthew got up bright and early on his birthday and this is what he found: I set the balloons in the middle of the train table. We've had this train table & set stashed away for a couple years and figured now was a good time to pull it out so it can be used again. It is such a fun set -- half the pieces we have in the set and that we've collected through the years I didn't even put out that morning.

The one thing I really wanted to go with the train set was a new engine that has a battery in it and will pull the other cars along. I didn't think it would arrive in time for his birthday, but we got lucky and it arrived in the mail the day of! Wahoo! The new engine is the yellow and red one right in the middle of the train.
Matthew had brownies, ice cream, and homemade hot fudge for his birthday dessert -- yum!

Jared was WAY EXCITED to see a new electric scooter being charged up! I think it really surprised him.

It was quite rainy on his birthday, but when it finally dried out a bit, Jared took the scooter out for a ride and had a fabulous time. His buddy next door just got one for his birthday too, so the two of them are having fun zipping around the neighborhood together.
Jared also invited a few friends to go swimming at the rec center and eat at DQ with him. Mark took them all and everyone had a good time. The best part of Jared's birthday was that on Sunday he was ordained a deacon. He looked so grownup and handsome in his new suitcoat and tie! We had lots of family here that day to help us celebrate so that made it special too.
