- stood in a long line at the DMV to renew my driver's license
- did the annual doctor appointment
- did the subsequent followup testing required from the doctor appointment
- began writing a new and larger number when required to admit my real age
Now, for the REAL fun things:
- Mark came home early from work and took me to lunch
- Mark also took me to the running store where he bought me my first pair of "real" running shoes -- i.e. the first time I've ever bought a pair of shoes from a specialty store where the guy looks at my arches and heels, asks how much I run, and then brings out 3 pairs to choose from.
- Mark made the cake -- chocolate with coconut pecan frosting
- boys actually sang "happy birthday" to me around the glow of birthday candles
- Mom & Dad sang to me on the answering machine
- a new huge crockpot so I can feed my starving children
- two new pairs of jeans, which I was able to shop for without having kids along for the ride
- new shoes

That sounds like a great birthday other than the DMV and the doctors visit. I'm glad you were treated so well. You deserve it!!
Great list! I didn't realize it was your birthday until after it was past - oops. Too busy vacationing with you :). Happy birthday anyway!
