hawaii - shaved ice & farmers market

It probably wouldn't be a trip to Hawaii without getting a shaved ice.  We had a free couple hours on Saturday morning, so we headed over to Haliewa to get shaved ice at Matsumoto's.

Also while we were in Haliewa we decided to explore a small farmer's market.  One of the booths had fresh coconut.  We decided to give it a try.  The lady punched a hole in the top and stuck in a straw.  We all had a taste of the coconut water -- we decided we didn't like it.  When all the coconut water was gone, she cracked open the coconut and cut it into manageable pieces so we could dig out the meat.  We decided we weren't fans of this either -- rather bland tasting really.  But at least we can all say we tried fresh coconut!  We also tried a small lemon-lime fruit -- tart but tasty -- and we bought a pineapple to eat later.Yum!
