deacon ball

Our stake had a little basketball tourney this weekend for the deacons. Our ward didn't quite have enough kids (who wanted to play) so they allowed the 11-year scouts to join them. SO... Jared and Ryan got to play together!! It was way fun. They only had five kids, exactly enough. And they made a great team, playing well together. Four out of the five live on this street and play ball together often. This picture is of their first game. Jared is in the center, in red, with the ball. Ryan is on the right (in red, #5). The opposing team had like 13 kids and everytime they subbed, they put in a new team. They also had the huge guy, the one stepping up to block Jared. Anyway, the white team pulled out way ahead but our boys fought back and lost by only 2 points! The next day, we played an 8 a.m. game and won! We played again at 11 a.m. and won! Then we had to play this team (again) at noon! Our boys were sooo tired. They did end up having one other boy show up, so they did get a break here and there in the rotation. They gave this team another challenging game, but in the end, lost. I thought they did great anyway, and they were proud of themselves too! Even better. It was really fun watching both boys play together and they both did AWESOME! (Yeah, I'm the mom -- not biased or anything. But several people commented that Jared & Ryan were really playing well. And they were.)

So here's a little series of pictures of Jared putting up a shot:

And here's a picture of Ryan in action:

That's awesome. I never got a chance to play with Dave in church ball, but playing pick up ball in subsequent years is fun.
